Biography
Paul Casey is a successful performing musician , instructor , arranger and adjudicator in Southern California. He has had the privilege of studying percussion under Vera Daehlin and Ken McGrath while studying music education at Pepperdine University. Paul also studied Information and Decision Systems at San Diego State University where he co-founded the San Diego State Indoor Drumline in 2000.
2005 marked the inaugural season for Alternative Percussion Ensemble in San Diego, CA (www.sdalternative.org) where Paul serves as the director, arranger and Production Coordinator. Prior to Alternative, Paul served as the Percussion Caption Head/ Arranger for the San Diego Alliance Drum & Bugle Corps (2001-2003). In 2004, he joined the staff of Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps where he served as snare technician. Paul is a well known instructor throughout Southern California. Besides his private students, his current teaching credits include: Poway HS, Scripps Ranch HS, Twin Peaks Middle School and Bernardo Heights Middle School.

Paul has been arranging for percussion since 1996. His arrangements have been performed by numerous high schools, colleges, and drum corps including Poway HS, Mt. Carmel HS, Scripps Ranch HS, Newbury Park HS, Bonita Vista HS, San Diego State University, Alternative Percussion Ensemble, and the San Diego Alliance Drum & Bugle Corps.
Paul has performed nationally and internationally with a very diverse group of ensembles. His performance credits include: Pepperdine University Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Opera Work Shop, Into the Woods, and Guys and Dolls; San Diego State University Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Indoor Drumline; Liquid Blue, The J. Brady Trio, The Jazz Connection as well as numerous session gigs and guest appearances with San Diego and Los Angeles based bands. His professional affiliations include the American Drumline Association (adjudicator), Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (adjudicator), and the Percussive Arts Society.
